Peacefully, in the early morning hours of Monday, January 3, 2022 our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Phyllis Wiebe (nee Goossen) went to her heavenly home at the age of 75 years.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 50 years, Rick Wiebe; daughters Roxane (Guy Dowhy), Tara (Gus Durksen), and Jolene; son, Daryl (Carisa); and daughter-in-law Jenean; her grandchildren Rory, Kiley, and Maren Durksen, and Isabel and Wyatt Wiebe; and fur grandbabies Teemu and Teppo. She will also be greatly missed by her siblings; Larry (Joyce) Goossen, Joyce (Cecil) Isaac, Delbert (Faye) Goossen, and sisters-in-law, Olga Goossen and Corinne Goossen as well as many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is predeceased by three brothers Donald, Bert and Wes and one son, Dale.
Our mother modelled unwavering faith and grace through many hardships. She was all about redemption and mercy and had a huge capacity to forgive. She looked for the good in people and never held a grudge. Family was everything to her. As a homemaker, she devoted herself to caring for us and she was concerned about raising her children right so that one day we would all be in heaven. On her 49th wedding anniversary she sent this note: “We are not perfect, but I think I have the best family. Somebody asked me if I’m always happy… no, maybe not always. But I told him there was nowhere else I wanted to be. This is my family and I love my family. You promised in sickness and health, for better or worse. ” This commitment defined our mother’s life and was at the heart of everything she did for us.
It is with heartfelt gratitude we thank the healthcare staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre and Maplewood Manor that provided the best care possible for Mom during her final days. The kindness and compassion shown to her, and to us, was a comfort during an extremely difficult time.
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
