Milton Roy Janzen

May 8, 1956 — January 31, 2025

Milton Roy Janzen was born on May 8, 1956, to Dietrich and Anne (Goossen) Janzen in Whitemouth, MB. Dad passed away on January 31, 2025, at the Maplewood Manor in Steinbach, MB at the age of 68. Milton was the middle child of five. He grew up on the family dairy and went to school in Whitemouth, MB.

At the age of 14 he gave his life to God and was baptized into the Whitemouth Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. His Christian life was important to him, and he was faithful to the end.

On May 8,1982, he was married to Victoria Braun in Abbotsford, BC and enjoyed 42 wonderful years of marriage together. They were blessed with three daughters and several other children of the heart over the years. Dad’s love ran strong and deep just like his faith in God and the Church. It was simple but very real, often being a reproof to us.

Dad loved playing and working with his children. Some of the highlights for our family were camping and hiking. The trips to BC and Alaska were special memories for our family.

He was an enthusiastic song leader. His love for singing and his beautiful strong tenor had him singing with a quartet for many years.

In 2014, Dad and Mom spent two years in Toronto as tract workers. He loved the work and made many new friends.

Dad was given the talent to be able to tackle and fix almost anything. He enjoyed farming, mechanics, electrical and plumbing. Later in life he enjoyed the new aspect that long distance trucking brought them.

In 2018, Dad was diagnosed with dementia, which he graciously accepted.

He loved his family and would often spend time playing games with us indoors and out. He took great pleasure in the added excitement of times spent with his nieces, nephews and other close friends. Dad loved to tease, and even though we didn't always appreciate it, we are going to miss it!

Dad's love and concern for his children and grandchildren, both physical and spiritual, stayed with him till the end.

Those left to mourn include his wife Victoria, daughters Jhoanita (Mark) Schellenberg (Victoria, Zachery, Nicholas and Jessica), of Beausejour, MB; Samantha (Brent) Barkman (Clay, Hunter, Piper and Willow), of Birnie, MB; Abigail (Tim) Nolt (Ricky, Pollyanna and Josephine), of Whitemouth, MB. Dad's siblings: Gordon (Judy), Gilbert (Ruth), Lois, Monroe (Alice).

His in-laws: Jenice Braun, Rose (Ron) Schaufert, Sally Braun, Jim (Pam) Braun, Frances (Rennie) Friesen, Ken (Pat) Braun, Mary Jane (Charlie) Chapman. Many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, brother Kenneth in infancy, an infant granddaughter Olivia, two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
