Linda Braun

On December 20, 2022, Linda Braun passed away suddenly after 79 beautiful years on this earth. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Leo, son Greg Braun, daughter Astrid Barkman, granddaughters Lily Hayward, Sydney Barkman, Lauren Barkman, Amelia Braun and great grandson Grayson Levay; brothers Harry Schmidt, Victor Schmidt (Bonnie), sisters Emmy Schmidt and Irma Kolm (Wally), as well as many brothers and sisters-in laws, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Abram and Agnes Schmidt, as well as many loved ones.

According to her mother’s hopes, Linda arrived between seeding and harvest, on July 10th, 1943. Sweet four-year-old Linda’s life changed forever when her beloved father fell ill, leaving her mother and now five children to quickly be relocated from the Starbuck farm into the arms of the Springsteen community where her widowed mother would have the help of a village in raising her family. As the oldest able daughter, Linda was always very helpful to her mother while growing up. After high school, Linda became a nurse, a career that well suited her strengths, and she moved to Steinbach to begin her life there. It was here that she found her people: friends, travel mates, colleagues and her future husband Leo.

Mom and Dad were married October 10, 1970 and spent 52 years together farming, traveling, and raising their two children Greg and Astrid. Mom’s heart was complete when she met her babies. Oh, how mom loved her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by family. Mom loved babysitting her grandchildren, playing games, and going for walks and coffee with her friends. She loved Jesus; and we know she is now resting in the arms of her Saviour.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Crossings Funeral Care in Steinbach, Manitoba. If you are unable to attend in person, the family invites you to join them through livestream.
