It is with sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, uncle and friend Leon Sofroniuk, on Monday March 25, 2024, at his residence.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Julia Sofroniuk; brother, Daniel and sister Virginia Kehler.
He will be lovingly remembered by two brothers, David, Peter (Carol); seven sisters, Ruth (Fern) Dionne, Marion (Joe) Massop, Julie Wiebe, Darlene Purcell, Loreili Isaac, Remana "Mona" (Wayne) Towns, Dalphina Sofroniuk (Merv); the Stott family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Leon was a remarkable person, cherished for his unique eccentric spirit and diverse interests.
His passion for learning, along with his curiosity about strange phenomena, like UFO's, reflects a deep intellectual curiosity.
Leon's quest for knowledge lead him to obtain many government issued licenses and read about famous people like Einstein, who he named his beloved dog after.
Always being good company to Mother, and a dedicated worker for the Stott family, speaks volumes about his character and loyalty.
He will always be remembered for his warmth, laughter and beautiful smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Crossings Funeral Care, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach.
