Ken Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear father Ken Jones on May 25th, 2024, at the age of 73
Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Mary on January 25, 2021. His parents Lyndon Jones August 27th year 2000 and Myrtle Jones May 5th year 2015.
Ken leaves to cherish his many memories, his children; Christina Jones (Irving), Shawna Jones (Jeff), Brendon Jones, grandchildren; Trey, Ashley, Liam, Alexander, Bentley, Jayden, brothers; Lyndon, Owen (Mary-Jean), Russell, sister; Alona (Fred), as well numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ken was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on February 26th, 1951. Lived on Carberry Cresent with his parents and siblings.
When he was 6 or 7 years old, he and his friend Elrick stole a cake off the back of a delivery truck. Delivery truck driver called the police, but no charges were laid because all the evidence was eaten.
When dad was a teenager, he enjoyed working on his car. Until he met Mary. She was quite a bit younger than he was, so he had to wait to date her. Eventually they became engaged and married on September 7th, 1974. Lived in their first house on Margerie Street in St James. Dad worked at the printing shop in the early 1970’s but then began his studies at Red River College to become a Plumber Pipe fitter for Local Union 254.
Soon after dad bought the house in Lorette when he and Mary raised their 3 children. Dad worked away from home a lot, but he would often spoil us when he got home from his work trips. The large pool with the wrap around deck was a big part of the family activities in the summer
Anyone that knew dad well knows that he liked to fix everything! We would keep parts of any items he had in hopes one day he could save money to fix something he needed fixed. And he kept every single instruction book he ever got.
In dads later years he enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds but would often reminisce about mom. He really missed her so much. There's peace in knowing that mom and dad are reunited again.

A celebration of life will be held for both Ken & Mary on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Crossings Funeral Care, 12E-40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, Manitoba.
