John Falk

June 1, 1957 — January 28, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Falk, who left us on January 28, 2025, at the age of 67.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader whose kindness, passion, and unwavering faith touched countless lives.

Born on June 1, 1957, in Winnipeg, MB, John grew up in Niverville, where he attended school and built lifelong connections. He married his beloved wife, Irene Falk, on April 23, 1977, and together they created a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to family. He was a proud father to Nikki (Ian) Krahn and Matthew (Sabrina) Falk, and an adoring grandfather to Jack, Autumn, Henry, Cairo, and Connor. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Dyck, sister Shirley Falk, and predeceased by his birth father, Peter Fast, who passed when John was just ten months old, and by his stepfather, Frank Falk, who passed in 1984.

John had a lifelong passion for working with young people, beginning in 1986 when he founded the YFC Drop-In Centre in Niverville. He ran the centre for many years, offering mentorship and a safe space for youth in the community. His love for coaching extended into baseball, football, and basketball, where he had the privilege of coaching alongside his daughter, Nikki, creating memories that they cherished deeply.

A natural leader and entrepreneur, John spent many years in sales before launching his own business over a decade ago called John Peters Events. He was the founder of the Manitoba Outdoors Show, a passion project that combined his love for the outdoors with his skill for bringing people together. His commitment to his community also led him to serve as a town councillor, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.

John lived life to the fullest. He and Irene loved traveling, taking to the open road on their Harley Davidson for many adventures. In recent years, they found joy in spending time at their seasonal camper at Sandy Hook, creating lasting memories with family and friends.

A lifelong Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan, John never missed a game, cheering on his team with unmatched enthusiasm. But more than anything, his greatest joy was his family. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment with them—watching Jack play football, cheering on Autumn at dance, and hosting sleepovers filled with movies and cuddles. He also loved making Cairo and Connor laugh and being there for Henry through every challenge.

Even in his final months, John remained the man he had always been—kind, strong, and full of faith. Throughout his cancer treatments, he never failed to ask about others, always more concerned with their stories than his own struggles. His steadfast positivity and strength will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Word of Life Church in Niverville. For those unable to attend in person the family invites you to join them through livestream. Please see below.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to CancerCare at HSC and Bethesda Hospital for their exceptional care, as well as to all the friends and family who have provided support over the past eight months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Never Alone Cancer Foundation in John’s memory.

John was a man who left a lasting impact on every life he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
