In loving memory of Jennie Schroeder (nee Oshanski), age 85, who passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Riverview Health Centre.
Jennie was born on June 20, 1936, in Hazelridge, Manitoba to Anne and Phillip Oshanski. She was the seventh of thirteen children. Jennie lived in Winnipeg most of her life. She married Wally Schroeder on July 13, 1968 and together they raised two sons: Fletcher, and Josh (Paola). Jennie was fond of her grandson Tyler, Josh’s son.
Jennie was a dedicated homemaker and a superb cook. She made excellent Ukrainian cabbage rolls. She was devoted to her husband, supporting him in his business S.L. Athletic Lettering Inc. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and ceramics. Wally and Jennie and their family attended the Black United Church.
Ten years prior to Jennie’s marriage to Wally, she had a son, whom she chose to give life, making an adoption plan and allowing a loving family to raise him. Twenty-seven years ago, Jennie and Ken were reunited, and together they made many happy memories. She will be missed by Ken (Laura) and their family, Jeremy (Kelly) and Kara (Sid).
Jennie was predeceased by her parents, numerous siblings, as well as her husband Wally in 2001.
Much appreciation to Mary Loewen, her sister-in-law, for her love, care, and concern by keeping in touch with Jennie with phone calls and visits.
A special thank you to Riverview Health Centre CD2, for their kind and compassionate care, given to Jennie the last 5 years.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Crossings Funeral Care, with Jennie’s Chaplain from Riverview, Paul Blair, presiding. Interment to follow in the Steinbach Heritage Cemetery.
In Your Arms
Please hold her in your arms
And treasure her with care,
Make up for all she suffered
And all she had to bear
Please whisper in her ear
In case she didn’t hear,
How much we truly love her
And wish she was still here.
