Elaine Marie Friesen died on August 11, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She leaves behind her husband, Len; daughters Hilary (Mike), Erin (Dave); grandchildren Sean and Emma; brothers and sisters Brian (Caroline), Jean, Gwen (JP) and Steve (Diane) and their children Matt and Alex. As well as brothers and sister’s in-law, Brenda, her children Robert, Natalia and Tania; John (Marlene) and their son Adam; Paul (Eleanor), and their children Shawyn and Kerry, Lois (Henry) and their children Tanya, Ashley and Tyler.
Elaine was born on April 4, 1953, in Steinbach to Alf and Anna Reimer, the middle child of five. After high school, she attended Capernwray Bible College in England. She returned to Steinbach and married Len Friesen on August 3, 1974. They lived in Winnipeg and Steinbach before settling in the Piney area. Elaine worked as a layout artist, group home worker, teacher's aide, camp cook and post office clerk, but her most enduring vocation was as a homemaker. She was also an active member of her church and community, volunteering as a Sunday School teacher and 4-H leader, among others.
A memorial service will be held for Elaine at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the International Christian Fellowship Church in Piney, Manitoba. Guests are welcome to share their memories of Elaine as part of the program. Light refreshments will follow the service. A private family interment will follow.
