Peacefully with family by her side, we announce that our wife, mother, nana, sister, daughter and friend Darlene Rose Penner, age 57, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus, on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
She is survived by her husband Kelly of 38 years, her children Stephanie (Roger), Cody (Brittany), and Chantel (Stuart), and six grandchildren, Zeke, Gemma, Dahlia, Bryson, Ryker and Woodson.
Darlene was predeceased by her father Benny, her mother Elda, brother Wes and sister-in-law Eleanor.
Darlene grew on a farm in the Blumenort area where her love of gardening began. She was the youngest of five; three brothers and one sister. Darlene received Jesus as her Saviour at a young age and was baptized as a teenager. Her formative years of schooling were in Blumenort and SCC.
She met the love of her life as coworkers at Penner Foods. Their dating years were short and together they exchanged vows on October 27, 1984. They settled in the Blumenort area where they lived for 38 years. Darlene’s desire to become a mom and homemaker was fulfilled at the age of 23.
She enjoyed fishing, going for walks, spending weeklong long vacations at the lake with the Plett’s. She loved reading, baking, cooking and canning. But her true passion was gardening, nothing was better for her to have a little dirt between her nails and toes. She loved being a mom and was a very proud Nana.
Darlene was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2022, she fought hard but lost her battle with cancer, but received her healed new body as she passed into eternity to be united with her father and mother and united with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
A private burial will be held prior to the service. A public Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Blumenort Community Church, followed by a private reception.
