After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Cornelius E. Bergen age 76, of Blumenort, MB on Sunday September 25, 2022 at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
Cornie was predeceased by his parents; Cornelius and Helena Bergen, parents-in-law; Cornelius and Katherine Friesen, two daughters; Tracy Jolene Bergen, and Angel Moriah Bergen, one great grandson; Paris Hiebert Richard, as well as three brothers; Peter, Henry and John.
Left to cherish his memory is; Irene Bergen, daughter; Marilyn (Jean) Richard, son; Mark (Tracy), grandchildren; Jean Christopher (Katie) Richard, Cody Wayne (Alisha) Richard, Marissa May Richard, Haily Grace Bergen, Luke Jonathon Bergen, Katelyn Hope Bergen, great granddaughter; Winter Richard, brothers; Jake (Vicky), Ben (Fran) and Isaac, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Cornie was a private man, he had everything in its place, very precise, and labelled if possible. His work life included construction, and farming. His hobbies included yardwork, gardening and studying his bible.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to a very special nurse Cassandra for her kindness and compassion, as well as the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, main floor for their care of Cornie during his final days.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Crossings Funeral Care, followed by an interment in Randolph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
