Cecilia Winnifred Edwards-Collier

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our family's beloved Matriarch, Cecilia Edwards-Collier, on September 11^th, 2023, at 67.

Cecilia is predeceased by her mother, Lucy A. Edwards (1930-2015) and her father, Joseph V. Edwards (1932-1987).

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Collier, as well as her two adult children, Edward Keddy and Sarah Birch, as well as her adopted grandchildren, Kyla and Kasey Smith, who affectionately nicknamed her "Nona."

Cecilia was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1956 and had two siblings, Joanne and James Edwards. She fulfilled many roles during the course of her life as a business owner, community volunteer, seamstress and gardener, but what she cherished above all else was her family. Cecilia was a quick-witted extrovert who loved to help people. Her legacy includes helping raise a neighborhood of children in rural Nova Scotia and assisting anyone she encountered who needed it. Consequently, she has touched so many people during her life that there are often stories of those she helped that took place unbeknownst to her immediate family, only to be recalled at such moments. Cecilia was a courageous champion of the little guy and had a natural sense of justice that she maintained throughout her life.

Cecilia's life will be celebrated on Sunday, September 24^th, at 1:00 p.m. at Crossings Funeral Care, 12E-40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, Manitoba. The formal proceeding will begin at 1:30 p.m. with food and refreshments being provided. All who knew Cecilia are welcome to attend.
