Arthur Elie Joseph Laroche

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès paisible d’Arthur Laroche, âgé de 88 ans, le lundi 20 janvier 2025, au Repos Jolys entouré de sa famille.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimé de 63 ans, Céline (Arpin); ses enfants Ghislaine (Ken) Bergen, Guy, Rhéo (Julie); ses petits-enfants Brett (Carolyne) Bergen, Karleen (Tyler) Unger, Karissa Laroche (Tommy Howell), Dale (Ashley Van) Schmidt, Désirée (Sheldon) Mitchell, Nicholas Laroche (Trinity Reimer-Delorme), Ashley Schmidt (Jeremy Lafantaisie), Danel (Sylvie) Laroche, Arianna Laroche; et ses 11 arrière-petits-enfants précieux.

 Arthur fut précédé dans la mort par ses parents, Philias et Florence (Bourgeois) Laroche; ses sœurs Cécile, Thérèse, Berthe; et ses frères Édouard, Edmond, Louis, Lucien, Antoine et Auguste.

 Arthur était passionné par les choses qu’il aimait; sa chère femme et sa famille, à travailler le bois et tout ce qui se trouve à l’extérieur. Que ce soit la chasse ou la pêche, et le camping avec des amis. Il a inculqué son éthique de travail acharné dans sa famille. Il a toujours consacré du temps à aider ses enfants et ses petits-enfants avec tout ce dont ils avaient besoin. Ses années d’expérience dans la construction lui ont permis de construire la maison de leur famille, de travailler sur divers projets avec ses enfants (tels que les rénovations de maison, la préparation de serres, le fonctionnement de machines, etc.), et il a également construit à ses petits-enfants d’incroyables meubles d’héritage à utiliser pour les années à venir.

 Arthur ne manquerait jamais une occasion de se remémorer son enfance ou de raconter ses expériences de vie; toujours avec un soupçon d’humour. Il aimait taquiner et faire rire les gens. Il a pris grand plaisir à partager cet humour avec ses petits-enfants et arrière-petits-enfants; il parlait d’eux avec une telle fierté.

 Arthur sera manqué par tous ceux qui l’ont connu et aimé. Son héritage vivra à travers sa famille.

 La famille tient à exprimer sa plus sincère gratitude aux médecins, aux infirmières et à tout le personnel de soutien au Repos Jolys et à l’Hôpital de St-Pierre-Jolys, pour les soins et le soutien formidables au fil des ans. Merci du fond du cœur.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur Laroche, aged 88, on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Repos Jolys surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Céline (Arpin), his children Ghislaine (Ken) Bergen, Guy, Rhéo (Julie Schmidt); his grandchildren Brett (Carolyne) Bergen, Karleen (Tyler) Unger, Karissa Laroche (Tommy Howell), Dale (Ashley Van) Schmidt, Désirée (Sheldon) Mitchell, Nicholas Laroche (Trinity Reimer-Delorme), Ashley Schmidt (Jeremy Lafantaisie), Danel (Sylvie) Laroche, Arianna Laroche; and his 11 precious great-grandchildren.

 Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Philias and Florence (Bourgeois) Laroche; his sisters Cécile, Thérèse, Berthe; and his brothers Édouard, Edmond, Louis, Lucien, Antoine et Auguste.

 Arthur was passionate about the things he loved; his beautiful wife and family, woodworking and anything outdoors, be it hunting or fishing, and camping with friends. He instilled his hard-working ethics in his family. He always devoted time to helping his children and grandchildren with anything they needed. His years of experience in construction allowed him to build their family’s home, work on various projects with his children (such as home renos, greenhouse preparation, machine operating, etc.), and he also built his grandchildren amazing heirloom pieces of furniture to be passed down along the years.

 Arthur would never miss an opportunity to reminisce about his childhood or recount his life experiences, always with a hint of humour. He loved to tease and make people laugh. He took great pleasure in sharing that humour with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he spoke of them with such pride.

 Arthur will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on through his family. 

 The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all supporting staff of the Repos Jolys and St-Pierre Hospital, for the great care and support over the years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

 Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Paroisse Saint-Pierre-Jolys Parish. The slide show and Eulogy will begin at 10:30 AM, and the funeral at 11:00 AM. A private interment of the ashes will be held at a later date.

 Following the service, we invite you to join us for lunch at the Sugar Shack/Cabane à Sucre.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Repos Jolys or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in Arthur’s honor.
