It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Laurent B. Lambert on Saturday January 1, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother George.
Laurent will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years; Lucie, their four children Alma (Don) Mitchell, Guy (Lynn) Lambert, Marc Lambert, Daniel (Melanie) Lambert, their grandchildren; Dan Mitchell (Megan), Sheldon (Désirée) Mitchell, Joelle Lambert, Carmen (Matt) Landry, Nicole Lambert, Brittany (Matt) Rackham, Markie Lambert, Melissa (Colton) Heffley, Julia Lambert (Cole), Brooke Lambert, and great grandchildren; Léo Mitchell, Abigail and Hailey Rackham, and Lusayo Kaonga. As well as siblings, extended family and friends.
Laurent was born in St. Malo, Manitoba. As a Red Seal carpenter, he left his legacy in St. Malo by using his expertise building many of the town’s predominant structures. His proficiency in his field also extended to the surrounding communities, where his guidance and skills helped improve and build many homes.
Laurent had a fondness for sports where he focused his attention on his children and grandchildren in activities they were involved with. He always encouraged each one of them to do their very best. As an avid hunter, he looked forward to the annual family deer hunt. He instilled his passion for hunting in his family. Laurent would never miss an opportunity to reminisce of previous hunting experiences. His presence will be greatly missed.
Throughout the community he had many nicknames, mostly known as “Pumpkin”, due to his love for pumpkin pies. Laurent loved to tease and make people laugh; his sense of humour was second to none right to the very end.
Laurent made his home welcoming to anyone and everyone, providing a safe place for friends to gather.
His family was his greatest achievement. He had pride in their accomplishments and took a personal interest in each of their lives. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the exceptional care given during his stay.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of Laurent’s life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Malo Arena in Laurent’s honour.
